Lahore Accountability Court acquits eight persons, including former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, in the Gepco Reference. The court ruled that after the NAB amendment ordinance, the charges against Raja Pervez Ashraf do not come under NAB’s jurisdiction.

Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf appeared before the Accountability Court Judge Amjad Nazir in the Gapko reference.

Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and seven officers of Gepco were acquitted on the occasion of the offense.

Talking to the media after the judicial verdict, Raja Pervez Ashraf said that he thanked God, the head of the lawsuit set up on him was not Monday, the PPP has always respected the courts.

It is to be noted that the exonerated officers were accused of illegally recruiting 437 people, this reference was filed four and a half years ago.
